Purpose

This template facilitates the citation of articles from The Cyclopædia of American Biography of 1918. It uses {{cite encyclopedia}} in its implementation. It provides for links to the Wikisource project The Cyclopædia of American Biography, but also links to other sources (for example Google Books), or no link at all can be used.

Usage

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=name of the article}}

or with a specification of the optional title, display, url, page, pages, oclc, noicon, long or vb parameters (see examples).

Examples

Simple

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman}}

displays as:

Wikisource-logo.svg Homans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc.

With comment

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman}} An industrial chemist.

displays as:

Wikisource-logo.svg Homans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc. An industrial chemist.

Using pages or page

These work as with other {{cite}} templates:

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman|pages=247-249}}

displays as:

Wikisource-logo.svg Homans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc. pp. 247–249.

Using title (no Wikisource link)

{{Cite CAB|title=Frasch, Herman}}

displays as:

PD-icon.svg Homans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman". The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc.

When title is being used, url can be used to specify an external link.

Using noicon

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman|noicon=x}}

displays as:

Homans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc.

Using vb

If text is incorporated verbatim into an article, the vb parameter can be used to tack on a notice appropriate to the policy in Wikipedia:Plagiarism.

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman|vb=x}}

displays as:

Wikisource-logo.svg This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domainHomans, James E., ed. (1918). "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. New York: The Press Association Compilers, Inc.

Using short

The short parameter hides some of the default values (the default values for editors, location and publisher):

{{Cite CAB|wstitle=Frasch, Herman|short=x}}

displays as:

Wikisource-logo.svg "Frasch, Herman" . The Cyclopædia of American Biography. 1918.
