Fairey Stooge
( Back to T:TDYK • Article history )
... that Fairey Aviation's Stooge was one of the UK's earliest surface-to-air missiles?

The hook fact must be immediately followed by an inline citation. Also suggest to have only one "Reference" section for instance by changing the second "reference" to "bilbiography" or something like it. Also suggest (but up to you) to use any of these suggestions instead of "first" for the Flight article. bamse (talk) 22:17, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm, as it would seem difficult to cite "one of the earliest", perhaps you might suggest an Alt instead? Maury Markowitz (talk) 22:56, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- You could replace it with "first fully-developed". bamse (talk) 23:15, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't really have a ref for that either, and then one gets into semantic debates about how "fully developed" Brakemine was. I'll spend a little time and come up with one that's non-linear. Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:39, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- ALT1... that Fairey Aviation's Stooge was a surface-to-air missile powered by air-to-ground rockets?
- Could be a possible hook. Which sentence(s)/ref would correspond to it? bamse (talk) 14:26, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I've reefed them directly - pg 344&345, it's right at the bottom/top of those pages in the ref. In the meantime, I received a letter from the REME museum which casts serious doubt on the "first" anyway, it appears that Brakemine was flying before Stooge, although the level of guidance I don't yet know. Interesting nonetheless, neither of these projects appear to be well known! Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:46, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- File:Symbol confirmed.svg I removed "early" from the hook because I did not find it in the referenced source. If you think this word is essential and if you can supply a reference for it, please let me know. Otherwise ALT1 it is ready to go. bamse (talk) 12:15, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I think it's an improvement without that word. Thanks for the help! Maury Markowitz (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
