The following is an archived discussion of Rembrandt Flores's DYK nomination. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page; such as this archived nomination"s (talk) page, the nominated article's (talk) page, or the Did you know
(talk) page. Unless there is consensus to re-open the archived discussion here. No further edits should be made to this page. See the talk page guidelines for (more) information.

- ... that PR executive Rembrandt Flores (pictured) has produced parties for Justin Bieber, Usher, and Kim Kardashian as well as coordinated events for The Grammys, The Sundance Film Festival and The Oscars?

Although this generally looks good, the picture is not yet approved through OTSR, so perhaps we don't want to display that on the main page just to be sure. There are also sourcing problems. For instance, the article states Flores graduated cum laude from Berkeley, while the source simply mentions he graduated from Berkeley. It also states Flores was born in 'Metro Manila', and I can't find the source for that either. The hook also sounds too promotional for my taste. Since this also seems to be a BLP, please provide all necessary details for these cases.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 11:21, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've removed "cum laude." Regarding mention of his place of birth, WP:BLPSOURCES states that "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." And the bold is not my addition. It was not intended that every single fact must be meticulously sourced. Maybe for a featured article. The next sentence states "contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion." I just don't see how his place of birth is contentious material. I think that this article meets DYK article criteria #3: It is solidly within policy as written. - Regarding the hook, I was attempting to find something that would be of the widest interest/appeal to the general public, and something that would also indicate why he was notable at all, since he's not a household name. We could say "Did you know PR executive Rembrandt Flores switched majors from economics to communications in his sophomore year?" but that's not going to draw many people to read the article, which is the purpose of DYK: to draw people to some of the newest content. If you or someone else has a suggestion for a different hook that meets criteria (is interesting, sourced, and neutral), I'm all for it. I'm Tony Ahn (talk) 02:00, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Lastly, regarding the photo, OTRS does not "approve" photos. They confirm that permissions have been granted. Since it was indicated by the uploader that the information was sent, and OTRS has not denied this, good faith requires that we assume the permission of the copyright holder is given. CC licensing happens at the moment the copyright holder wills it, not at the moment OTRS confirms it. That means although OTRS has not confirmed permissions yet, they are still granted, which means the photo is within policy until OTRS says otherwise. I'm Tony Ahn (talk) 02:00, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Alright. I welcome your edits and I accept your explanation in the cases where you have not worked on my suggestions. I also just added {{blp}} to the talkpage and Category:Living people to the article proper. It's no big deal, but please remember to do that yourself the next you create a BLP article.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 20:40, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
