Template:Ann

50px Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

Template:Wikidata property

This is a template used to generate external links to Anime News Network's anime and manga encyclopedia. Do not use this template to create citations. In fact, the Anime News Network Encyclopedia is not a reliable source because anyone can add content to it with little to no fact checking.

Instructions

  1. Go to animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia and search for the title/person/company you want.
  2. Click on the correct link to go to the ANN's page on it. Be sure you are clicking on the correct page.
  3. The page URL should look like http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=id, where id indicates a number.
  4. Add to the external links section of the associated Wikipedia article the text: * {{ann|type|id}} where type is the type of ANN page it is (manga, anime, company, etc.) and id is the number you have copied.

Usage

Use either:

* {{ann|type|id|title|noparen}}
* {{ann|type=type|id=id|title=title|noparen=true}}

Do not mix "field=value" and "value" formats for the parameters as it can cause some of the fields to be overwritten. The parameters are:

  • type: can be manga, manhwa, manhua, anime, ova, movie, people, company, or magazine. Some alternatives are supported such as "name" in place of "people".
  • id: the number following ?id= part of the ANN URL.
  • title: the desired linktext if different from the Wikipedia article's title. The default is the Wikipedia article's title if left blank.
  • noparen: prevents the parentheses showing the type from appearing. Any value will work, though using a value that makes sense like "noparen" or "noparen=true" is suggested. Note that this does not affect the types "people" and "company" as neither uses the parentheses.

Examples

Code Result
{{ann|manga|1598|Naruto}} Template:Ann
{{ann|anime|1825|Naruto}} Template:Ann
{{ann|ova|3499|Naruto Special: Akaki Yotsuba no Clover o Sagase}} Template:Ann
{{ann|movie|3381|Naruto The Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow}} Template:Ann
{{ann|people|8036|Masashi Kishimoto}} Template:Ann
{{ann|company|4552|Viz Media}} Template:Ann
{{ann|magazine|6004|Chorus}} Template:Ann
{{ann|manhwa|5481|iD_eNTITY}} Template:Ann

When using the template in the article Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, as the title is the same as the ANN entry, you can omit the title parameter. Also, since this would be the only ANN link used in the article, you can exclude the type. Thus you could use this instead:
