The mechanics of Wikisource will sometimes require that a link have disambiguation information which is not part of the original title.  The <code>display</code> parameter allows this information to be hidden for the purpose of the citation.  For example:

<code><nowiki>{{Cite Collier's|Monroe (Louisiana)|year=1921|display=Monroe, a city of Louisiana}}</nowiki></code>

====Using <code>long</code>====

If a shorter citation is desired, the <code>long</code> option can be used.  For example:

<code><nowiki>{{Cite Collier's|Jackson, Andrew|long=no}}</nowiki></code>

displays as:

{{Cite Americana|Jackson, Andrew|long=no}}

<code>Long</code> can be set to <code>n</code>, <code>no</code>, <code>0</code> or <code>x</code> to trigger the short form of the citation.  The long form is used as default.  All non-automated items entered into the template will be displayed whether or not the <code>long</code> option is specified.

Purpose

This template enables the citation of articles from the Wikisource project Collier's New Encyclopedia in the manner of {{cite encyclopaedia}}.

Usage

{{Cite Collier's|put the name of the article here}}

or with a specification of the optional author, display, vb or noicon:

{{Cite Collier's|put the name of the article here|display=displayed article name|author=author name|noicon=x|vb=x}}

Examples

Simple

{{Cite Collier's|Jackson, Andrew}}

displays as:

public domain Reynolds, Francis J., ed. (1921). "Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. New York: P. F. Collier & Son Company.

With comment

{{Cite Collier's|Jackson, Andrew}} A popular politician in the formative years of the United States.

displays as:

public domain Reynolds, Francis J., ed. (1921). "Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. New York: P. F. Collier & Son Company. A popular politician in the formative years of the United States.

Using display

The mechanics of Wikisource will sometimes require that a link have disambiguation information which is not part of the original title. The display parameter allows this information to be hidden for the purpose of the citation. For example:

{{Cite Collier's|Monroe (Louisiana)|year=1921|display=Monroe, a city of Louisiana}}

displays as:

public domain Reynolds, Francis J., ed. (1921). "Monroe, a city of Louisiana" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. New York: P. F. Collier & Son Company.

Using noicon

{{Cite Collier's|Jackson, Andrew|noicon=x}}

displays as:

Reynolds, Francis J., ed. (1921). "Jackson, Andrew". Collier's New Encyclopedia. New York: P. F. Collier & Son Company.

Using vb

If text is incorporated verbatim into an article, the vb parameter can be used to tack on a notice appropriate to the policy in Wikipedia:Plagiarism.

{{Cite Collier's|Townsend, Charles Henry Tyler|vb=x}}

displays as:

public domain This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domainReynolds, Francis J., ed. (1921). "Townsend, Charles Henry Tyler" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. New York: P. F. Collier & Son Company.
