There were ways to enable mostly very strong males to survive this disease and I believe Yakov was one of the "survivors." Of course, they could not shave and they did foam at the mouth. They were found in this compound (a kind of farm) by Canadians in the ending days of World War II. Perhaps Russia was notified, if so there was a "dead response." There is a grove of oaks across from Prairie Oaks Metro Park (across from the stream hike) of the right age. It is private property; there are no trespassing signs, and I did not want to go there by myself, so I am not 100 percent sure, but I believe the men are buried there. In the early days of the Ohio Country, there was a rabies epidemic and the virus was carried by the miasmas or morning mists from the many wetlands. Certain of the indentured servants from the British Isles had lung problems, mostly tb I guess, and many individuals were affected. The bodies were taken to this place (now called the Oak Openings - a Toledo Metropark) - and buried, then a fire was set over the burial site, and then oaks were planted over their bodies. This was an early tradition in the British Isles. It is my understanding one of the American soldiers had a brother, who had to wait until all the men were dead (they needed care from their maker) until he could kill the perpetrator. He was the only family member who had knowledge of this. | ||
