Harris DeVane

Created by The Bushranger (talk). Self-nominated at 02:12, 25 December 2017 (UTC).

  • Note that I just revamped this entirely, including a all-new, all-singing, all-dancing hook compared to its original submission, because the muse konked me over the head with a second article to add to it. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:17, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Review:

Disclaimer: I have never reviewed a DYK. I have submitted a DYK and it seems that I have been exempted from QPQ because of lack of prior DYK. However, in the spirit of QPQ, I am starting a review but request assistance from anyone reading this or anyone who is seeking to do a QPQ review.

Criteria Article 1: new: OK!
Criteria Article 2: long enough (1500 characters or more) - OK!
Criteria Article 3a. neutral - OK!
3b. inline citations - OK!
3c. copyright violations - ***** no conclusion yet
Criteria Hook 1: format (length and formatting) - OK!
Criteria Hook 2: content - ***** no conclusion yet
Criteria Other 1: QPQ - not sure, will ask Criteria Other 2: photo - not applicable becuase no photo so OK!

not done yet

Alternative hook ideas: consider a DYK about Harris DeVane's DYK that he was a peanut farmer, DYK that he was the first winner of a race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway's new racetrack configuration, DYK that he was a winner but failed to qualify in 1999 because of lack of speed. The current hook is, paraphrased, DYK that racecar driver ______ tried to debut at a race. That might not be too exciting if one assumes that all racecar drivers must have a first race in their careers.

Also I did not review the 1998 NAPA 500. Vanguard10 (talk) 04:24, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

Template:U, to check for copyright violations, you can use this useful tool. The reason that the hook is a little more bland than it could be is to try to work two articles (which have both been recently created) into one hook. I agree that peanut farmer to NASCAR driver is interesting, though, so perhaps Template:U could also work that into this hook as a second fact about DeVane.
Also, Vanguard10, since you didn't review the second article, I will: New, in time, long enough, each paragraph has at least one citation, hook fact is present and has an inline citation that checks out, no apparent copyvios, QPQ is done. --Usernameunique (talk) 04:53, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
That is a good suggestion, and I've added a bit about him being a peanut farmer to the hook. "Winner to DNQ" wouldn't work as that was in two different series, and (as mentioned) I originally had "first winner on new configuration" before the second article jumped into my mind and demanded to be written. - The Bushranger One ping only 04:55, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
