- ... that Herschel K. Mitchell, Roger J. Williams, and Esmond E. Snell isolated folic acid from four tons of processed spinach? This is a well-known story; the paper published by the three is doi:10.1021/ja01853a512Template:Only in print and a secondary source describing the history of folic acid research is doi:10.1046/j.1365-2141.2001.02822.xTemplate:Only in print. Also covered in his (freely accessible) obit here.

Article is new enough and long enough. Sourcing a bit difficult to verify due to the lack of pagenumbers and inlines. Maybe I am just missing it somewhere, but where is it said that he was a "co discoverer"? Same for "neurospora being a model organism" (it is, though). The "25 years" too. Didn't see any copyvio or plagiarism. QPQ is good. Hook is interesting, not too long and well sourced. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:33, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hmm, did the obit not load for you? It's two pages, and describes him as a discoverer on page one. The other three citations link to the original paper coauthored by Mitchell, Williams, and Snell, a retrospective by Snell, and a modern history of folic acid research; however, they're all paywalled. As for Neurospora, I added a link to a book that specifically uses the term "model organism" (though I'd call that a WP:BLUE case). Opabinia regalis (talk) 22:51, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
Something was broken indeed. Neurospora may be a BLUE case to a bio student like me, but the homepage receives a lot more readers. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 23:50, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
