King's Cross Thameslink railway station

King's Cross Thameslink station in 1862
  • ... that King's Cross Thameslink railway station (pictured in 1862) was one of the initial seven stations on the Metropolitan Railway, London's first underground line? Source: Douglas Rose (2016). The London Underground : a diagrammatic history (Map) (9 ed.). Capital Transport Publishing. ISBN 9781854144041. (map showing all lines and stations on the London Underground. Metropolitan line is marked as opening 10-1-1863, with seven stations marked between Paddington and Farringdon)

  • Comment: The station had a different name in 1862-3 (King's Cross Metropolitan), so happy to discuss the best hook and wording if the above fact is used, to avoid confusion between the Thameslink name and the Metropolitan name.

  • Reviewing, copyvio okay, QPQ done, good article, long enough and well sourced. Hook in article, offline source. Regarding the question of the hook wording. It looks okay to me as it explained in the article. For some reason, I can't see the image. Whispyhistory (talk) 19:52, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping neither can I. I don't know what's gone wrong with it... I wondered if it was because the filename has commas in, but from fiddling at User:Amakuru/Sandbox that doesn't appear to be it. The main thing I wanted to discuss regarding the hook was whether it was OK, given that the hook concerns a time when the station was called "King's Cross Metropolitan", yet it calls it by its recent name of "King's Cross Thameslink".  — Amakuru (talk) 20:30, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping...can you put a name in brackets or write previously known as...? What has been done before? Whispyhistory (talk) 20:34, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Template:Ping I have added an ALT1 with a suggestion along those lines......  — Amakuru (talk) 20:38, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Your confidence in me is misplaced. I also couldn't get it to show, even when pasted into my sandbox but it does show in the articles where it is in use. Odd. Because it is a png? Anyway, I fixed it but uploading under a new name as a jpg which is the equivalent of turning your computer off and on again. Fixed the levels too to remove the grey background. • Symbol voting keep.svg Thank you for the good article Template:U and thanks Template:U for image. My confidence stood sound. The hook and image are from offline sources. ALT1 probably preferable. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:06, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol question.svg Hi, I came by to promote this. It's a great image, but the hook isn't that catchy for the image slot. If you don't have a different hook idea, could the last link in ALT1 be piped for a little more hook interest?
  • ALT1a: ... that King's Cross Thameslink railway station, then known as King's Cross Metropolitan (pictured in 1862), was one of the initial seven stations on London's first underground line? Yoninah (talk) 21:41, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Template:Ping fine be me. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 21:43, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol voting keep.svg Thanks. Restoring tick for ALT1a per Whispyhistory's review. Yoninah (talk) 21:54, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
