==Parameters==
Today there are only several species left of the bearcat that today only occur in America or in Asia. The two species that occur today have well adapted to their present and differ physically very much. The bearcat has many common ancestors such as the tiger, grizzly bear and the cheetah. The evolution of the bearcat has we know them today started about 30 million years ago. The beginning of these creatures began in what we know today as India. Their ancestors evolved involved into a family of small mammals known as parvulus ursus. These small bears and cat like creatures mated to form the early version of the Ursa Feles. These animals evolved into two groups; one lives in Eastern and Southern Africa (has a brown fur coat, long tail and a small mane) the other in a few parts of Asia (black fur coat, short tail and large mane). The African bear cat is extremley large compared to the Asian bearcat, this is because the African bearcat has longer legs to chase after its prey.

The bear cat in Africa live in Angola, Botswana and Tanzania where its prey includes, antelopes, buffaloes and Zebras. This territory consists of scrub, grasslands or open woodlands. In Asia the bearcats are found in mountainous and heavily forested areas across the Asian continent. The Asian bearcats survive on fish and small creatures from the forest floor e.g, mice.
