| File:Edit-copy green.svg | This is a documentation subpage for Template:IMDb company. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This is a template to generate links to Internet Movie Database, used exclusively for COMPANIES.
- To link a movie, use {{IMDb title}} instead.
- To link a person (actor, actress, etc.), use {{IMDb name}} instead.
- To link a tv episode or web episode, use {{IMDb episode}} instead.
- To link an episode list, use {{IMDb episodes}} instead.
- To link a character, use {{IMDb character}} instead.
Options
The required parameter is just the ID number (for backward compatibility, the parameter can be named id) and the template then uses the article title as the anchor text:
* {{IMDb company|ID}}
To have the link text be other than the article name, use second parameter (for backward compatibility, it can be named name):
* {{IMDb company|ID|Company}}
Note that the options include the "*" for a bulleted list since this is most likely to be used in an "External links" section.
Detailed instructions
- Copy and paste one of the options above into the article
- Go to http://www.imdb.com and search for the person you want (say, Universal Pictures; you'll reach
http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Universal+ Pictures) - Click on the correct Universal Picters in the list:
Universal Pictures [us] (Distributor)
- You then reach the page with URL looking like http://www.imdb.com/company/co0005073/ (or other 7-digit number)
- Copy only that number (here, "
0005073"), omitting the "co" but keep all the leading zeros (though IMDb currently seems to be able to add them as needed) - Replace "ID" in the template code with the number
- For the first option above, you'll then have
- * {{IMDb company|0005073}} resulting in:
- Template:PAGENAMEBASE at IMDbScript error: No such module "EditAtWikidata".
- Note that the link text is the same as the title of the page the template is used on; outside the page "Universal Pictures", use the second option:
- Replace "ID" with the number and "Company" with "Universal Pictures"
- * {{IMDb company|0005073|Universal Pictures}} results in:
- Universal Pictures at IMDbScript error: No such module "EditAtWikidata".
- * {{IMDb company|0005073|Universal Pictures}} results in:
- For the first option above, you'll then have
Examples
Each of the below links lead to Sunshine Film Corporation [us], but appears differently:
- {{IMDb company|0003678}} takes the page name and appears as: Template:PAGENAMEBASE at IMDbScript error: No such module "EditAtWikidata".
- {{IMDb company|0003678|Sunshine Film Corporation (US)}} takes the parameter name and appears as: Sunshine Film Corporation (US) at IMDbScript error: No such module "EditAtWikidata".
