For the 2018 season, the following teams will qualify:
- The winner of MLS Cup 2018;
- The winner of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
One Canada-based team qualifies for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League, also entering at the second phase (NOTE: Canadian teams cannot qualify through MLS):- The winner of the 2018 Canadian Championship
- The winner of MLS Cup 2018;
