| This is a documentation subpage for Template:ACMajority. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
The purpose of this page is to automate and standardise the declaration of majority in votes of the Arbitration Committee. Motions and proposed decisions use a statement to declare how many votes in the given matter will constitute a majority, depending on how many arbitrators are active and inactive, have abstained, or are recused. Majorities apply to decisions conducted based on an "absolute majority":Template:Quotation
Usage
On motions, for the purpose of formatting the template should be used as such: :''{{ACMajority|active = # |inactive = # |recused = # |motion = yes}}''
The basic use of the template is: {{ACMajority|active = # |inactive = # |recused = # }}
|active= is the number of arbitrators active on the matter. For motions and similar, this is usually taken from Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Members. For open cases, this is taken from the list of active and inactive arbitrators on the Proposed Decision talk page.
|inactive= is the number of arbitrators who are inactive on the vote.
|recused= is the number of arbitrators who have recused. For motion (not proposed decision) votes, where the abstention table is hidden, you should include abstained arbitrators in this count in order to maintain an accurate calculation of the majority. There is no 'abstained' parameter.
For use on motions, include an additional parameter of |motion=yes which replaces "this case" with "the purposes of this (or these) motion(s)" and hides the abstentions table. Use |motion=single if using on a single motion, to replace the uglier "this (or these) motion(s)" with "this motion".
|hidetable=yes can be used to hide the table whilst not using the 'for the purpose of this motion' variant of the text.
Example
For example, {{ACMajority|active = 11 |inactive = 1 |recused = 2 }} gives:
For this case there are 11 active arbitrators, not counting 1 who is inactive and 2 who have abstained or recused, so 6 support or oppose votes are a majority.
| Abstentions | Support votes needed for majority |
|---|---|
| 0–1 | 6 |
| 2–3 | 5 |
| 4–5 | 4 |
