Template:American Factfinder2 generates URLs to Geographic Comparison Tables from the 2000 United States Census via the United States Census Bureau's American FactFinder website (http://factfinder2.census.gov). Includes land area, water area, and population density for counties, county subdivisions and cities. Used in conjunction with Template:Cite American Factfinder2 for references in individual articles.

Note: Template is only for the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It will not generate information for the other U.S. territories.

Usage

Use: {{American Factfinder2|type|id|type2}}

  • type: Use 1 to generate state-level tables or 2 to generate county-level tables.
  • type2: The specific type of data you want displayed. Choices are state, county, place, tribe, or urban (for urban/rural comparisons). ANCR or native_HI can also be used for Alaska Native lands and Native Hawaiian lands respectively.

Citation

{{Cite American Factfinder2}} All parameters are required. Parameters can be named or unnamed. The template will generate a named URL including the name of the American Factfinder table being cited along with the article title as the anchor text.

* {{cite American Factfinder2|type|id|type2}}

To have the link text be other than the article name, use a fourth parameter (optionally, it can be named name):

* {{cite American Factfinder2|type|id|type2|name}}

This can be used to customize the cite when the page name contains disambiguation brackets or other text. This is also necessary should you need to add a link to an article about somebody or something other than the linked feature.

Generally, you will want to specify the date you accessed the American Factfinder database using the fifth parameter (also named accessdate). The template uses January 31, 2008 by default, but you can select a different date if you choose:

* {{cite American Factfinder2|type|id|type2|name|accessdate}}
