== Autochoke ==

The autochoke is a mechanism that forms part of the carbeuretor on an internal combustion engine. Its function is to alter carbeuration to compensate for the low operating temperature of an engine while it warms up on initial ignition.

It does so by 1) manipulating the [[choke valve|choke plate]] and 2) bumping up the idle speed of the engine. As the engine temperature rises, the autochoke releases the choke valve and disengages the "fast idle" mechanism.
