| This is a documentation subpage for Template:Backlog count. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
| Due to a server limit of 500 "expensive parser function" calls (#ifexist:, PAGESIZE:, and PAGESINCATEGORY:), this template or module will only work properly if the page using it has not already exceeded the limit. When the limit is exceeded, the page using this template or module is categorised Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls. (further information) |
Usage
This template is used by Wikipedia:Backlog. It is not intended for general use in the encyclopedia. It nicely formats categories whose names end in from month YEAR so they can be displayed in a numbered list. It includes the size of the category. Since it does not count sub-categories, it is not an actual count of the total backlog, just the backlog in the particular month and year.
- Example
To format
- Category:Accuracy disputes from January 2026
- Category:Articles with unsourced statements from January 2026

{{Backlog count|Accuracy disputes|January 2026}}{{Backlog count|Articles with unsourced statements|January 2026}}
- which displays as
