This template adds pages to Category:Banned Wikipedia users. It should not be used for normal blocks; rather, it is for legitimate accounts that have been banned after due consideration. The template adds the __NOINDEX__ magic word.

Syntax

Note: all parameters are optional.

  • time – specifies the time for which the user was banned.
A value of 'indef', 'indefinite', or 'indefinitely' will display as "banned indefinitely"
Any other value places the page into Category:Wikipedia users banned for a limited period
  • by – specifies the source of the ban. This may be just text or a wikilink to the banning who initiated the ban (eg the Arbitration Committee or the community).
  • link – adds text at the bottom of the template. This is often used to link to the banning discussion. link2 and link3 can also be used for multiple decisions (such as recording a declined ban appeal)
  • namewarning=yes – transcludes {{Namewarning}} at the bottom.
  • BannedMeansBanned=yes - transcludes {{BannedMeansBanned}} at the bottom (below the name warning if also called).
