This template is a quick way to include a stock explanation of why MOS:RETAIN (a.k.a. WP:RETAIN) does not apply in WP:Categories for discussion arguments, since it is frequently mis-cited there.

Usage

The template supports a parameter (unnamed, numbered as |1=, or named as |who=) to name a commenter (which can be linked for pinging purposes) instead of referring to the nominator: |Commenter99=, |1={{U|UserXYZ}}, |who=[[User:EditorABC|EditorABC]]
