Initial visibility: currently defaults to autocollapse
To set this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:
|state=collapsed:{{Cinema of the United States|state=collapsed}}to show the template collapsed, i.e., hidden apart from its title bar|state=expanded:{{Cinema of the United States|state=expanded}}to show the template expanded, i.e., fully visible|state=autocollapse:{{Cinema of the United States|state=autocollapse}}
If the |state= parameter in the template on this page is not set, the template's initial visibility is taken from the |default= parameter in the Collapsible option template. For the template on this page, that currently evaluates to autocollapse.
Note on the use of this template
Due to the huge amount of American films and also due to objections that have been expressed about its use, please, do not transclude this template in American film articles, but only in general articles about the American film industry. Here are suggestions, that can be further debated in the talk page:
- Major American film studios
- Major production companies
- Hollywood (core article)
- Core articles on US Industry Awards (Academy, Golden Globe, Directors Guild of America, etc)
- Film festivals with a major award for American films (Sundance, …)
