Usage

This template creates a {{cite web}} citation to shipwrecks in the Victorian Heritage Database, a searchable reference source on Victoria's heritage places.

{{cite VHD shipwreck
  | "database id"
  | "name"
  | accessdate = 2025-12-21
 }}

There is no error checking. Specifying an incorrect ID will result in a link to a non-existing record.

Mandatory Parameters

There are two mandatory unnamed parameters

  1. Shipwreck ID number. It is found at the end of the Victorian Heritage Database URL.
  2. Ship name

Example

For example, the Abstainer record can be referenced using

{{Cite VHD shipwreck|1|Abstainer}}

resulting in:

"Abstainer Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) Number S1". Victorian Heritage Database. Heritage Victoria.

Optional Parameters

The optional parameters are:

  • the access date can be specified using the accessdate field.

Examples

{{cite VHD shipwreck|2|Achilles|accessdate=2012-02-05}}

resulting in:

"Achilles Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) Number S2". Victorian Heritage Database. Heritage Victoria. Retrieved 2012-02-05.

Harvard style referencing

This template provides a simple Harvard style reference, using VHD followed by the ID number. Year referencing is not supported at this time.
