This is a citation template for citing entries from The Times newspaper, a newspaper of record of the United Kingdom. The format follows the format used in The Times Index. The Times Index goes back to 1785 and the other newspaper templates such as Cite news do not convey the same information.

Usage

Short horizontal format

Notes

article name
This is the title of the article
author
Give the author name including the first name or initials
section
The section in which the article appears, e.g news, business, sport, letters to the editor etc.
day_of_week
(no longer supported)
date
The full date the article was published
page_number
The page number of the article. If the article spans multiple pages, use page_numbers instead.
page_numbers
The page numbers of the article. If the article is only on one page, use page_number instead.
issue
The issue number of the newspaper
column
The column the article begins on, the first column is a, the second is b and so on
