Barry Stuppler

A bespectacled Barry Stuppler in a tan suit with a blue shirt and a gold tie.

Created/expanded by Ryan Vesey (talk), HoytHeather (talk). Nominated by Ryan Vesey (talk) at 05:02, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Symbol question.svg There's a reference tag under the Awards section that needs to be addressed. Maile66 (talk) 12:43, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Does the reference tag actually disqualify it from DYK? I added it myself, because a primary source was the best one I could find at the time but I could remove the information otherwise. On the other hand, how long is a DYK allowed to go for? HoytHeather may have access to a reliable source. Ryan Vesey Review me! 14:24, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • This would be a good place to get a second opinion on this. The review guidelines say no dispute templates, which some might view that way. Does it actually disqualify it? You asked a good question. I think it would be best to clear this up so it doesn't become a bother before the green light. I'm hoping a more seasoned reviewer can answer this one. Maile66 (talk) 14:36, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • For this use, I'd agree that a non-primary source is needed before this can go on the main page. Non-controversial stuff, okay, but awards and whatnot should be sourced to uninvolved sources. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:00, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay, I'll work on that, or remove it if I can't find a non-primary source. How long do I have? Ryan Vesey Review me! 15:26, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • You have as long as they're willing to keep this on the list. Use the over all DYK nomination page as a calculation of how long that might be. If anyone decides it's been here too long, they'll leave a note here. Maile66 (talk) 16:24, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • QPQ done. Date and length check. Your hook is sourced. No copyvio found. I checked everything, so we can pass this upon your resolving the above-mentioned source issue. I really like this article, and it's something a little different. I offered a suggested Alt! hook (which is also sourced). Not saying one hook is better than the other, and it's your call. Makes me smile that he tried to buy the fallen Berlin Wall. Maile66 (talk) 17:14, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • I really like the article too. It was deleted as an advertisement and the editor asked what he could do and provided a couple of links to sources. I looked for a few more and realized the guy really deserved an article. I really like your hook and would now be opposed to anything that doesn't include a mention of the Berlin Wall but I think it ends up reading a little awkward. What do you think of my alt 2? Ryan Vesey Review me! 06:10, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll need to go find a source for the 2003 date though. This seems reliable. Ryan Vesey Review me! 06:14, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
I like your new hook very much. Maile66 (talk) 11:19, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

I believe I have resolved the issues. All of the information in the hook provided by me is sourced. I have moved the information with the primary source tag to the talk page until a non-primary source can be used. Ryan Vesey Review me! 14:12, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Symbol confirmed.svg Good to go, with Alt2 as the hook. Maile66 (talk) 14:32, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
