Faustus, the Last Night

Created by LouisAlain (talk) and Gerda Arendt (talk). Nominated by Gerda Arendt (talk) at 12:14, 24 July 2017 (UTC).

  • Symbol question.svg Long enough. New enough. Citations throughout. Neutral tone. QPQ done. Hook is based on several sources throughout the article. A few issues however.
  • 1. Dusapin's writing of the play between 2003 and 2004--it's not in citation 1.
  • 2. The following sentences need to be rewritten for better clarity--*without close paraphrasing":
    • 2.1. "Subsequently, the work was performed at the Opéra de Lyon, where it was recorded on DVD, with the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer, and the Berlin soloists with the exception of Urban Malmberg as Mephistopheles." The sentence is difficult to follow.
    • 2.2. "Their lines are sometimes overlapping. At times Malmberg and Nigl overlap their lines, as found in the score, "blurring" the characters." The first sentence is hard to understand. The second sentence is right out of Zychowicz's article about a particular performance. Hybernator (talk) 00:06, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for looking closely! I hope I fixed it, really forgot to paraphrase the line, - or had I given up? Better wording welcome. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:36, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Thanks for adding the citations. I've made a couple of minor edits. But I still don't follow "When the opera begins, Faustus knows already that it is all over." The citation (#5) is in German, and I can't make out what "it is all over" means via Google Translate. (You seem to be assuming that people are familiar with Faust's story.) Please clarify and we should be good to go. Thanks. Hybernator (talk) 18:44, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
Would it help if we drop the sentence? This opera is not the place to retell the story. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:06, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
