Henry Boynton Clitz
... that Henry Boynton Clitz, twelfth Commandant of Cadets at West Point, disappeared?

- Lua error: expandTemplate: template "y" does not exist.
- Template:Ping which source and part of the article text say that he's the twelfth commandant? HaEr48 (talk) 03:36, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Ping It doesn't. I am not sure how I made that mistake (confused his command of 12th Infantry?) but he was the 16th and it is not in one of the cited sources as near as I can now tell. I could not access the source in the List of Commandants of Cadets of the United States Military Academy so I can not add that as a reference. I think that rather than looking for an extraneous source to insert for his place in the list of commandants, we should change the hook to remove the "12th" and add the years he was commandant, which are in the article in the section on his tenure as the commandant, as follows:
- ALT1: ...that Henry Boynton Clitz, Commandant of Cadets at West Point, 1862–1864, disappeared in 1888?
- ALT1: ...that Henry Boynton Clitz, Commandant of Cadets at West Point, 1862–1864, disappeared in 1888?
Sources: For disappearance, see above. For commandant of cadets and years, existing citations to: 1. Cullum, p. 243 (online edition at footnote 5) "at the Military Academy, as Commandant of Cadets and Instructor of Artillery, Infantry, and Cavalry Tactics, Oct. 23, 1862, to July 4, 1864;" 2. Eicher, p. 177, "comdt. of cadets, USMA, 23 Oct. 1862 - 4 July 1864."
Good catch. Sorry for the mistake. I hope this is an acceptable alternative. Donner60 (talk) 05:34, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
ALT1 sounds good to me. Restoring tick as per Template:Ul's original review. HaEr48 (talk) 05:43, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
