Lee Shih-ke

Golden statue of Lee Shih-ke
Golden statue of Lee Shih-ke

  • Review:
Article
  • Article is long enough and was created on April 27, so it is eligible.
  • It appears to meet policies on neutrality as well and citing sources as well. I cannot speak Chinese, but the sources appear to be reliable and the English-language source listed (The Taipei Times) is certainly reliable.
Hook
  • The hook is very interesting. Excellent hook, absolutely good enough for the front page.
Other
  • QPQ has been met
  • If the copyright of the statue is open it's fine (I'm not familiar with Taiwanese copyright law). I know some statues have copyright rules in the US but I will leave this for others to mention.

Overall, going to approve this in good faith (Symbol voting keep.svg) that the foreign language sources are suitable and that the statue image is appropriate. Toa Nidhiki05 15:04, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Pinging Nikkimaria, who may know whether this image meets freedom of panorama rules (the statue is under a corrugated metal roof, but it's hard to tell whether there are walls on all four sides (in which case it would be indoors, and definitely not free), or if the roof is just protection in a somewhat open space (which may not matter if a roof is enough to prevent outdoors from counting). In any event, the hook calls the statue "golden", while the caption for the photo says it's "bronze". I suppose it could be gold-painted (or leafed) bronze, but the descriptions should be consistent. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:03, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
The provided source suggests it would qualify as outdoor and therefore covered by FOP. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:10, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
Here is another angle. Here it is in bronze. Hope that helps.EchetusXe 15:34, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
It does help, thanks, and thanks to Nikkimaria as well. I have changed the photo caption to read "golden", since it makes no sense to have two different descriptions of the statue, and the chosen photo is the statue as golden rather than bronze. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:18, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Symbol possible vote.svg There is close paraphrasing from the source that needs to be rewritten/rephrased in your own words:
  • Source: wearing a wig, baseball cap and a sanitary mask
  • Article: wearing a wig, baseball cap and a sanitary mask
  • Source: They forced a confession out of him, but Wang allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a river while feigning to lead the police to the weapon and cash.
  • Article: forced a confession out of him, but Wang committed suicide by jumping into a river whilst pretending to guide the police to the weapon and cash.
  • Source: almost all banks in Taiwan require patrons to remove their surgical masks and motorcycle helmets before entering.
  • Article: Taiwanese banks required patrons to remove surgical masks and motorcycle helmets before entering
  • You could link to Wikipedia articles that probably use other terms than "sanitary mask" and "surgical mask". Also, leaving "allegedly" out of the second example makes it sound like he really did intend to commit suicide; we can't know that.
  • Additionally, please link this article in at least one other Wikipedia article so it doesn't get an orphan tag. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 21:12, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Okay I've rephrased those parts and the article is now linked to a similar figure.EchetusXe 15:54, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes it added more detail on the statue and mentioned the link with an earlier Robin Hood figure. Thanks.EchetusXe 16:20, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg OK, restoring tick per Toa Nidhiki05's review. Yoninah (talk) 16:29, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
