Michael I of Wallachia

Mircea I and Mihail I
Mircea I and Mihail I

Source: Mircea's handpicked successor, his eldest son Mihail I, was acting as prince of Wallachia even before his father's death. He is mentioned as associate ruler in documents as early as 1391... Although the reasons are unclear, Mihail, from the time of his co-regency in 1417, stopped paying tibute to the Turks. ([1])
