Orange, Red, Yellow

Created/expanded by TonyTheTiger (talk). Self nom at 22:52, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

  • Symbol question.svg Article is new enough, long enough, and well-referenced. However, I could not find a reference that verifies the hook fact that it "set a world record auction price for Post-War art and for Abstract Expressionist art". The NYT article only says it set a record for contemporary art. Also the QPQ is missing. -Zanhe (talk) 23:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks for adding the refs. The "postwar art" part checks out. However, the ref says "setting a record for the Abstract Expressionist painter", which I believe means setting a record for Rothko's works, but not all Abstract Expressionist painters in general. -Zanhe (talk) 00:24, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

(ALT1)... that Mark Rothko's Orange, Red, Yellow set a world record auction price for contemporary art and for Post-War art of $86.9 million on May 8, 2012?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
  • According to the contemporary art article, contemporary art is defined as art created after WWII. So it's redundant to mention both. How about:
ALT2 ... that Mark Rothko's Orange, Red, Yellow was sold on May 8, 2012 for $86.9 million, a world record auction price for contemporary art?
