Oxenfree

  • ... that a reviewer described the watercolor art style of the graphic adventure video game Oxenfree as "gorgeous"? Source: "The island destination is rendered in a gorgeous dreamlike art style of watercolors and soft light."

Improved to Good Article status by David Fuchs (talk). Nominated by Cwmhiraeth (talk) at 06:36, 5 September 2017 (UTC).

Symbol question.svg Quality Good article, on plenty of sources, no copyvio obvious. - The hook bores me, sorry. "gorgeous" is unspecific and used too much. Please try again, perhaps along the lines "the naturalistic dialogue of Oxenfree was a strength" and "completely split the art styles between the normal world and the mystical". Or drop the reviewer who has nothing better to say and speak about the watercolours. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:50, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Well, David Fuchs may have some ideas for hooks when he discovers that I have nominated this article, but this hook leapt out at me while I was reading the article. The word "gorgeous" might be used to describe a picture, a dress or a work of art, but an adventure video game? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:23, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Possibly my English is not good enough. For me, it always sounded like something that wants to suggest outstanding greatness, but, being applied too often, isn't outstanding anymore. Also, it's used here for the watercolour part, so art after all, not really the game per se. As usually, if no better hook can be found, I'll approve this one. If I'd see it on the Main page, I would not click. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:53, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
A pull quote from a reviewer I don't think is particularly indicative of the article, nor the subject's quality. If you wanted to focus on the art, something like "Oxenfree's dark, organic background art was designed to contrast with the sharp digital supernatural elements later on in the game" or something along those lines, since it also gives more information on what the art style is. ALT1: ... that the dark, organic setting of the graphic adventure video game Oxenfree was designed to contrast with the bright, geometric supernatural elements? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:19, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
How is it the other way round:
ALT2: ... that in the graphic adventure video game Oxenfree, a dark, organic setting was designed to contrast with bright, geometric supernatural elements?
