  • ... that US General Arthur MacArthur gave an address at the unveiling of a monument (pictured) to Scottish poet Robert Burns, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin? Source: [1] Top of page 155, text reads "General Arthur MacArthur delivered an address on Scottish characteristics and poetry."

5x expanded by WIScotusjsmke (talk). Nominated by Freekee (talk) at 04:50, 29 November 2019 (UTC).

Symbol possible vote.svg "Milwaukee Wisconsin" in the hook should have a comma and at least one link, and the article needs a copyedit; I'll try to do this. Ham II (talk) 22:10, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
Added the comma after "Milwaukee"; however, there is no requirement that a well-known location be linked in a hook, where we try to minimize unnecessary links to avoid distracting from the nominated article. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg I prefer ALT1 as it makes it very clear what the hook is about. Daniel Case (talk) 18:18, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
  • I think alt1 is hookier. Why would an American general give an address about a Scottish poet? How about
  • Alt2 ... that US General Arthur MacArthur gave an address at the unveiling of Milwaukee's monument to Robert Burns (pictured), the Scottish poet?
Oh wait, has this discussion been closed? Sorry. -Freekee (talk) 16:34, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg Adding a tick for ALT2, proposed by the nominator, which I think does add interest to ALT1, and is preferable to the ALT0s. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:43, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Request Given that there are ten articles on the prep/queue page, the soonest this article could go to DYK is January 17th. Robert Burns's birthday is January 25th. Could we have this delayed another week or so, to appear on that day? -Freekee (talk) 01:56, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
