:* it's now marked "start" class and is no longer a stub.  btw:  I met her today and added a photo to her article.  I dont think the DYK needs it, but we can add it in if it would be useful  [[User:Dmadeo|dm]] ([[User talk:Dmadeo|talk]]) 05:10, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Terry Plank

Created/expanded by Dmadeo (talk). Self nom at 05:18, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Symbol confirmed.svg Article is new enough (created 10/3) and long enough. The hook is short enough, the hook fact is interesting, and there is reliable inline citation for the MacArthur genius grant. The other bits about growing up in a rock quarry and being the youngest member of the rock society are sourced to comments made by Plank in an interview published by Columbia (with which she is affiliated/employed). While some might quibble about the independence of the sourcing, I think we can take the award of a genius grant winner on the question of where she grew up. The article is well written and has in-line citations. I'm a little concerned that three of the four sources for the article lack independence (her personal CV, her home page, and the interview published on the Columbia web site), but I see that as something to be improved rather than a reason to reject the nomination. Spot-checking of sources reveals no evidence of copyright violation or plagiarism. QPQ is complete. No picture to review. Cbl62 (talk) 05:39, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Revised hook based on new refs. I agree with your concern, but the hook is mentioned only in the columbia articles. the last one at least came from the press office of the earth institute. dm (talk) 06:29, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg Revised hook checks out fine as well. With her receipt of the MacArthur grant this week, she will likely receive a lot more coverage, which will allow the article to be improved even further, but it's good to go for DYK now. Cbl62 (talk) 14:33, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
