Terry Plank
- ... that Terry Plank, awarded a 2012 MacArthur genius grant, grew up in a rock quarry and was the youngest member of the Delaware Mineralogical Society?

Article is new enough (created 10/3) and long enough. The hook is short enough, the hook fact is interesting, and there is reliable inline citation for the MacArthur genius grant. The other bits about growing up in a rock quarry and being the youngest member of the rock society are sourced to comments made by Plank in an interview published by Columbia (with which she is affiliated/employed). While some might quibble about the independence of the sourcing, I think we can take the award of a genius grant winner on the question of where she grew up. The article is well written and has in-line citations. I'm a little concerned that three of the four sources for the article lack independence (her personal CV, her home page, and the interview published on the Columbia web site), but I see that as something to be improved rather than a reason to reject the nomination. Spot-checking of sources reveals no evidence of copyright violation or plagiarism. QPQ is complete. No picture to review. Cbl62 (talk) 05:39, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Article is still classified as a stub, and must not be a stub to be eligible for DYK. Either further expansion or reclassification is necessary for approval. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:52, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Restoring approval per Cbl62 now that article is no longer a stub. New article photo is released to Wikimedia Commons with a CC license. (I note that the MacArthur page also has CC photos, though I prefer this one.) Since DYK tends to have a dearth of photos of women, please feel free to add yours here unless you'd rather not. (No guarantee that it would be selected, of course, but the option is always nice.) There have been overnight edits to the article; the only one that's questionable in my mind is adding her birthdate to the infobox; if it's true, she'll be turning 49 later this month, but it's not in any of the sources that I could see.
