The Boat Race 2000
... that The 2000 Boat Race had both the tallest ever competitor and the youngest ever victor?
Created by Matty.007 (talk). Self nominated at 19:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC).
- Few issues.......
- "Oxford won the race by three lengths, breaking a seven year spell of Cambridge dominance, though the result was a "shock triumph", and lost in 2001. " too many run-on clauses and no need to mention 2001 in the lead.
- Fixed
- " triumped" typo.
- Fixed
- "completing a clean sweep for the year." not clear what the sweep constitutes. Especially when you say "Oxford also won the women's lightweight, but Cambridge won the women's reserves, men's lightweight, and men's lightweight reserves"
- Changed
- Use en-dash for scores, e.g. 76-69 should be 76–69.
- Changed, though see note at bottom of this page
- " in 9 years" MOSNUM -> nine.
- Changed
- Refs 3, 8 & 10 have same publisher, but not represented the same here.
- Changed
- No attribution given anywhere on the talk page for the article you copied, some of it verbatim.]
- Sorry about that, as I say below, I used one of your GAs as a guide, and forgot to credit the copied section.
- As for the hook, the 2013 race featured a 6 ft 10 inch rower (Paul Bennett).
- The competitor here was joint tallest, but I will probably propose an alt anyway due to half the hook being invalid
- Also, the youngest winning participant was in 1873, not 2000, so not sure about the hook at all right now.
- Apologies, my mistake. I will propose an alt on Sunday (when I will also do a QPQ), as I am away with work tomorrow until Sunday

- I used your GA The Boat Race 2003 as a guide, and the scores did not use en dashes, should they? Will propose alt and QPQ on Sunday, see above. Thanks, Matty.007 17:47, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- If they didn't use en-dashes, I'll eat my hat... Yes, they should. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:56, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- Alt 1:
... that The 2000 Boat Race was a "shock triumph"?Matty.007 11:21, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps say for whom it was a shock triumph. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:50, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Alt 1:
- Matty.007, it's been over two weeks; please give this your immediate attention. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:41, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Template:Od Very sorry, this slipped under the net. Alt 2: ... that Oxford's victory in The 2000 Boat Race was a "shock triumph"? Matty.007 16:47, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man, did you want to continue the review, or should I try to find a new reviewer? (Note: I've struck the earlier hooks, leaving just ALT2.) BlueMoonset (talk) 19:22, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry to let you down, but since I've taken on the topic of getting every single Boat Race article written and at least to GA standard, I'll recuse myself from this review and leave it to someone neutral. My apologies. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:39, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
