:::*Not done. The key phrase is "gorillas fighting robbers in Africa": the gorillas certainly aren't cited by the end of any sentence that mentions them, nor that they fight robbers. Take more than ten seconds this time, and please do the inline source citations right. While you're at it, please rewrite the sentence that reads "Chot, who has been shot at, requests to be forgiven as his eyes close for eternity." Has he been shot such that he's dying, or just shot at, and who did it? Also, "his eyes close for eternity" is about as unencyclopedic as you can get, not to mention that it's unclear whether he is forgiven before he dies. Thanks. The Lost Tribe (1949 film)
- ... that The Lost Tribe, featuring gorillas fighting robbers in Africa, was directed by William Berke?
- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/John Ratcliff
- Comment: Preferable for it to appear on the same day as Template:Did you know nominations/The Lost Tribe (1985 film). Thanks.
Created by Bonkers The Clown (talk). Self nominated at 13:57, 2 September 2013 (UTC).
- Jungle Jim's pet gorilla appears heavily in the film, and it and its jungle primate friends fightng against the temple looters. (And plot is left uncited per WP:DYKSG.) Thanks. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 08:59, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- That being the case, it should have received coverage in media right? —Vensatry (Ping me) 12:59, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- The book mentions the gorilla fight, for one, but I don't see a need to cite. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 13:03, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hook must be neutral, interesting enough and verifiable. Above all it must be present in the article. What's so special about a film being directed by William Berke? —Vensatry (Ping me) 14:07, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, gorillas fighting robbers is interesting, and I have to add something non-fictional to the hook. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 14:32, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- I should note that the hook doesn't always have to contain something non-fictional: see the succesful Template:Did you know nominations/I Was a Zombie for the F.B.I.. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 18:52, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm, but WP:DYK states, "If the subject is a work of fiction or a fictional character, the hook must involve the real world in some way." ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 14:25, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

- That "I Was a Zombie" hook should not have been approved, promoted, or run: that it was is unfortunate, as it's a clear violation of the DYK rules. If any of you spot one like that in the future, please flag it as invalid. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:34, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I learned something today, heh. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 20:07, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
As was pointed out in another plot-based hook, if you use plot elements in a hook, they have to be cited, either within the plot itself, or in another section of the article. (Vensatry also notes this here.) This still needs to be done; the hook is not currently adequately supported by DYK standards. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:33, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Would this source work? It's a Hal Erickson plot summary that contains the line "Our hero summons forth an army of gorillas to fight off the bad guys." [1] Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 20:13, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- It would be nice to have the original Harrison AllRovi entry, but so far as I know the Times imprimatur means it's reliable enough, and wording there seems to cover the gorillas and people scheming to steal the treasure. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:48, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
No response from nominator. Closing as unsuccessful; hook still not supported in article as required by DYK. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:32, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
