Walsh McDermott
- ... that Walsh McDermott won a Lasker Award for his research on isoniazid, an antibiotic he had taken to treat his own case of tuberculosis? Source: "In 1950, after partial pulmonary resection and isoniazid treatment, (his) disease was brought under control ... Later he was offered the opportunity to test the efficacy of the newly discovered isoniazid, in tuberculosis. For that work he shared the Lasker award with three colleagues"
