Usage

  1. Search on eol.org for the subject you want.
  2. Click on the correct link to go to the subject's page.
  3. The page URL should look like http://www.eol.org/pages/#######, where "#######" indicates a number.
  4. Copy ONLY that number
  5. Add to the external links section the text:
* {{eol|#######|label}}
where "#######" is the number you've copied, and (optional) "label" is the subject's name, if it differs from the page title.

Example

  1. Search for Nicrophorus americanus on eol.org. You'll get to this page: http://www.eol.org/pages/1044544
  2. Copy "1044544" and then add this number as the first parameter:
