| This is a documentation subpage for Template:EOL. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
- Search on eol.org for the subject you want.
- Click on the correct link to go to the subject's page.
- The page URL should look like http://www.eol.org/pages/#######, where "#######" indicates a number.
- Copy ONLY that number
- Add to the external links section the text:
- * {{EOL|#######|label}}
- where "#######" is the number you've copied, and "label" is the full title of the EOL article, for example: Pogonomyrmex anergismus
Example
- Search for Nicrophorus americanus on eol.org. You'll get to this page: http://www.eol.org/pages/1044544
- Copy "1044544" and add this number as the first parameter, then copy "Nicrophorus americanus" and add it as the second parameter:
- {{EOL|1044544|Nicrophorus americanus}}
The result on the page Nicrophorus americanus is:
- "Nicrophorus americanus" at the Encyclopedia of LifeScript error: No such module "EditAtWikidata".Template:WikidataCheck
Typically this is a list item in the external links section (even if there is only one link), so you should add "*" in front.
