Template:WPBannerMeta

Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

This template is used to tag the talk pages of articles with etymology sections, or that may potentially have etymology sections, that are within the scope of the Etymology Task Force of WikiProject Linguistics. The template should generally be put at the top of the page, below the talk page header and above other talk page tags.

For the assessment criteria please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Linguistics/Etymology#Etymology section template.

Usage

Basic usage: {{etymology section|class=class|importance=importance}}

All parameters:

{{etymology section
|class =      <!-- good, g, incomplete, i, missing, m -->
|importance = <!-- top, high, mid, low -->
|small =      <!-- yes -->
}}

Parameters

All parameters are optional.

  • class:- this indicates the quality of the etymology section in the article. Possible values are good (or g), incomplete (or i), and missing (or m). If no class is specified the quality is marked as "unassessed".
  • importance:- this indicates the importance of the etymology section as defined by the Etymology Task Force's importance scale. Possible values are top, high, mid, and low. If no class is specified the importance is marked as "unknown".
  • small:- displays a smaller version of the template.
  • category:- this enables category output. It does not usually need to be set manually.
  • listas:- this enables default sorting of categories. It does not usually need to be set manually.
