| This is a documentation subpage for Template:FAQ2. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This template is used to create a list of frequently asked questions with collapsed answers.
Usage
|heading=no; if set to no, then the edit link, question mark image and header text are suppressed; this is useful when stacking multiple templates
|title=title text; defaults to Frequently Asked Questions
|header=header text; defaults as shown above
|q1=question 1
- thru
|q20=question 20
|a1=answer 1
- thru
|a20=answer 20
Creating the FAQ page
The best practice is to create the FAQ as a subpage of an article talk page, such as Talk:Foo/FAQ. The subpage can be created and preloaded by:
- Edit the main talk page or any section
- Insert {{FAQ2/c}} anywhere
- Click on Preview
- Click on Create FAQ
- The FAQ subpage will open in edit mode with the preloaded template
- Fill in the template and Save
- Browse back to the main talk page and include the FAQ by adding {{/FAQ}}
If the /FAQ page already exists, it will be opened for editing but not preloaded. The preload code at Template:FAQ2/Preload can be copied and pasted as needed.
Examples
- Simple FAQ
{{FAQ2
|q1=Question 1
|a1=Answer 1
|q2=Question 2
|a2=Answer 2
}}
| Frequently asked questions (FAQ) | |

- Stacking FAQs
Questions can be separated into sections by using multiple instances of the template:
{{FAQ2}}
{{FAQ2
|heading=no
|title=First set of questions
|q1=Question 1
|a1=Answer 1
|q2=Question 2
|a2=Answer 2
}}
{{FAQ2
|heading=no
|title=Second set of questions
|q1=Question 1
|a1=Answer 1
|q2=Question 2
|a2=Answer 2
}}
