Infobox templates including links to Map sources page
| {{Infobox british hills double| … }} | see for example Beinn Alligin |
| {{infobox UK place| … }} | Infobox for towns, villages, hamlets etc in the UK. See for example Bembridge. |
| {{GBthumb|90|130|SU616687}} | A dotty map - see for example |
All the above templates now create a link to a "Map sources" page which includes a link to the Getamap service - see Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates.
The "prim" part of "gbmaprim" stands for primitive - the other two gbmap… templates call gbmaprim to actually create the link.
Templates creating direct links to specific websites
| What to type | What it makes |
| {{getamap|SP871352|Denbigh Sports Ground}} | Template:Getamap (OS getamap) |
| {{GBvosi|e=462500|n=168100|cty=|txt= this map printed in 1883}} |
this map printed in 1883 (at old-maps.co.uk) |
| {{mmuknr photo|518000|321500|50|aerial photo}} | Template:Mmuknr photo (multimap) |
| {{mmukpc|PE21|0NB}} | Template:Mmukpc (at multimap - useful for railway station articles - but not much else) |
These templates are provided for any editor who wishes to illustrate a particular point being made in an article. If you use them:
- please provide a link to the map sources page as well somewhere in the article
- be aware that the external link may change or may look different to someone else, eg. multimap comes up at different sizes.
