Usage
To signal that freshly updated material from a particular article is featured and bolded in the ITN column on the Main Page, for example, on 15 August 2026, copy and paste the following onto the article's talk page:
{{ITN talk|date=15 August 2026}}
This will display the following:
| 47px | A news item involving ITN talk was featured on Wikipedia's main page in the In the news section on 15 August 2026. |
This will show the date the article appeared on the ITN column and add it to Category:Wikipedia In the news articles, a listing of all the articles that appeared in the column.
- To include a link to the daily Portal:Current events page for that date, add the parameter 'alt', as in
{{ITN talk|date=15 August 2026|alt=yes}}. Note that in some cases the portal may have mentioned the news item on a different date, or may not have mentioned it at all. - To include a link to a relevant oldid of the Template:In the news template itself, add the parameter 'oldid', for example
{{ITN talk|date=15 August 2026|oldid1=497003009}}.
Multiple dates
The template will accept up to five different dates, using |daten=, |oldidn= or |altn=, where n is a whole number between 1 and 5. Alternatively use |alt=yes without a number to link all dates to Portal:Current events. For example,
