Usage

This template is put at the top of a biographical article to explain to readers that there is no family name.

This template takes one parameter:

  • {{Icelandic name|(given name)}}

There is an optional parameter to specify the sex, and thus only say "Patronymic" (male) or "Matronymic" (female). If not specified, both are given. If the parameter is "surname" then the patronym and matronym are supressed.

Examples;

  • {{Icelandic name|''Bob''|male}}
  • {{Icelandic name|''Bob''|female}}
  • {{Icelandic name|''Bob''|surname}}
  • {{Icelandic name|''Charlie''}}
