Usage

This template should be placed on MediaWiki talk pages and a corresponding documentation page for the MediaWiki page itself should be created in the MediaWiki interface manual; system messages are best documented on MediaWiki's corresponding qqq pages, e.g. MediaWiki:Readonly lag/qqq, which can be updated for all MediaWiki installations on translatewiki.net (FAQ; technical information).

Despite the wording of the message when viewed here, this page is not part of the interface and is not protected.

Alternately, a brief explanation of the MediaWiki page's function can be provided directly in the template, which changes the wording of the manual page notice: {{Interface explanation|Brief explanation}} resulting in:


The template adds pages it is on into Category:MediaWiki messages with interface explanation.
