"Farrokh Saidi' (born 1929, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian (Persian) surgeon and academician.
Career
Farrokh Saidi finished his undergraduate studies at Cornell University [1], New York, in 1954. He received his medical degree (M.D.) from Harvard Medical School [2] in Boston, Massachusetts, where he also completed his residency in general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital [3], and completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at MGH. He spent an additional year of training at the department of surgery at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, United Kingdom, where he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). After his return to Iran in 1961, he joined Nemazee Hospital [4] in Shiraz and became a teaching faculty surgeon at the School of Medicine of Pahlavi University (now Shiraz University [5]) in Shiraz, Iran. In 1987, he joined Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences [6], and established the thoracic surgery fellowship program at Modarres Hospital in Tehran. He was a professor of surgery at Shiraz University, and is currently a professor of surgery, emeritus, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.
Farrokh Saidi's administrative roles include the undersecretary of education in Iran's government, and the dean of medical school, Pahlavi University, Shiraz, both before the Iranian revolution.
