Moschino

Moschino (Italian pronunciation: [moˈskiːno]) was named after the founder, Franco Moschino in 1983. It is one of the Italian luxury fashion house, specializing in leather accessories, shoes, luggage and fragrances. Moschino and his style mark got acclaimed for his inventive, vivid – in some cases centric – designs, for his adoration of fairies, for his criticisms of the fashion industry and for his social awareness campaigns in the early 1990s.

The owner of the Moschino labels is Moschino SpA, the company which was acquired by Aeffe SpA (producer of Moschino since 1983) and Sportswear International SpA (SINV HOLDING S.p.A. since 2006) in 1999. Moschino SpA carries out its brand management, licensing agreement activities, communication and coordination of the commercial policies autonomously. In 2006, Moschino designed the outfits for the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

Controversy

In January 2019, Moschino was sued by previous worker for alleged of racial segregation. Shamael Lataillade, who used to deal with the brand's West Hollywood store, claimed that there was a "particular protocol" for black customers who didn't have the impression of being rich. Lataillade shared details of a "Serena" codeword being utilized to recognize these customers who were then to be observed cautiously and followed while shopping. Lataillade additionally mentioned an experience with the claim in which the store called the police on a “suspicious” black male who was actually a signed recording artist. Also, Lataillade claimed regional manager took photographs of client over and over and would not permit clients marked "Serena" to try on clothing items. Lataillade believed she was unjustly terminated based on discrimination after she reached corporate with a complain about administration about the management - asserting “ongoing and atrocious harassment and discrimination based on her status as a Black, Haitian American woman.” Although it was not revealed, the term may refer to Serena Williams.

Moschino has denied the claims. The company said that it  “complies with applicable equal employment laws and values and respects all customers and clients regardless of their race or background" in a statement.
