Template documentation

Usage

This template is used for formatting text in the Devanagari script. It accepts an obligatory parameter for the Devangari text and an optional second parameter for the transliteration:

  • {{lang-Deva|अर्जुन}} gives:
Devanagari: अर्जुन
  • {{lang-Deva|अर्जुन|arjuna}} gives:
Devanagari: अर्जुनTemplate:Sparjuna

An optional third parameter specifies the transliteration scheme used (for example, IAST for IAST or ISO for ISO 15919). If the |link= parameter is set to no, the string Devanagari will not be linked.

When not to use

To format Devanagari text in a specified language, use one of the specific templates, like {{lang-hi}} for Hindi, {{lang-mr}} for Marathi, {{lang-ne}} for Nepali or {{lang-sa}} for Sanskrit.

To prevent the text Devanagari: from displaying, use {{transl}}: {{transl|und-Deva|some text}} if the language is undetermined. If the language is specified, use {{lang}}.
