(José Díaz was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Spain during the Spanish Civil War that held a prominent position in the Popular Front government, and had close ties with Moscow during the Stalin-era.)
(Mao had formed an autonomous Marxist-Leninist state for a time in the early 1930s and then during World War II with Stalin's help the Communist Party of China was for several years in an effective popular front-style government with Chiang Kai Shek.)
