Tiebreakers
  1. Carolina owns a head-to-head victory over San Francisco.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Chicago owns a head-to-head victory over Green Bay. Division ties are broken to determine the highest ranking team in each division prior to comparing clubs in other divisions. Thus, only Chicago is compared with Arizona to determine 7th place.
  3. Arizona then has a better conference record (4–4) than Chicago (3–4).
  4. The New York Giants have a better division record (1–2) than Washington (0–2).
  5. Atlanta has a better conference record (2–4) than Minnesota (1–4).

Usage

This is a template that was created to easily update every article with the 2013 NFC standings.

The teams should be sorted according to the NFL tiebreaking rules, as indicated by such reliable sources as CBS Sports' playoff picture page (the conference standings page on NFL.com are usually not accurate on this issue because they normally do not sort them by ALL the tiebreaking rules until the end of the season). Because of the complexities of the tiebreaking rules, anything that is not verifiable may be reverted on grounds of original research. The footnotes listing the tiebreakers are currently displayed using the "lower-alpha" predefined footnote group (see WP:EXPLNOTE).

To use the update on any article, insert:

{{2013 NFC standings}}

To highlight the San Francisco 49ers, insert:

{{2013 NFC standings|team=SF}}

The following are the codes for the teams in the NFC:

  • ARZ - Arizona Cardinals
  • ATL - Atlanta Falcons
  • CAR - Carolina Panthers
  • CHI - Chicago Bears
  • DET - Detroit Lions
  • DAL - Dallas Cowboys
  • DET - Detroit Lions
  • GB - Green Bay Packers
  • NO - New Orleans Saints
  • NYG - New York Giants
  • PHI - Philadelphia Eagles
  • STL - St. Louis Rams
  • SF - San Francisco 49ers
  • SEA - Seattle Seahawks
  • TB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • WAS - Washington Redskins
