Kenichi Marumo
- ... that Kenichi Marumo scored a run for the Orix Buffaloes baseball team despite never holding a bat?

- Comment: This is mainly a translation from the corresponding Japanese article, but I have also expanded it a bit and added extra sources. As for the hook, the subject spent four years in the second-team "farm league", but only ever appeared in one first-team match. In that game he was used as a pinch runner and scored a run. He was then replaced with someone else before having a chance to field or bat himself. The technical term would be "despite never having a plate appearance", but I think "never holding a bat" sounds more "hooky". If it is too vague or misleading, I would love to hear other suggestions.

New enough, long enough, meets core content policies. Hook cited to RS, but I'm concerned that the hook makes it sound like he literally never held a baseball bat during his entire career. Perhaps ALT1: ... that Kenichi Marumo once scored a run for the Orix Buffaloes baseball team despite not appearing at the plate? --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 19:15, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review Template:U. I don't know how familiar you are with baseball, but it is not unusual for a pinch runner to score without appearing at the plate. Also, if "once" is added, then to me it sounds like it was one of many that he scored.
- What if "first-team" and "never" were added to make it more specific?
- ALT2: ...... that Kenichi Marumo scored a run for the Orix Buffaloes first team despite never appearing at the plate?
