Unexpected use of template {{9}} - see Template:9 for details.

The Template:9 is currently a warning to its users. The use of Template:9 is often a typo where template parameter 9 ({{{9}}} with triple braces) was meant but, only double braces were used invoking "{{9}}" as Template:9.

However, the most problems have been caused by omitting the first brace "{" of a parameter and getting "{{9}}}", as invoking Template:9 +"}" rather than parameter 9. This can be an insidious problem, especially when the transclusion of Template:9 is hidden, so that the effect is invisible to the person editing a page. For that reason, Template:9 now issues a warning to the user:

  • Unexpected use of template {{9}} - see Template:9 for details.

With that warning, the prior invisible access to Template:9 can now be understood to be a formerly unseen problem coded within a page.

Note: this will also pick up several variations such as {{9|}} for {{{9|}}} and {{{9}}.

Periodically, people check what-links-here to see if anyone has accidentally invoked Template:9 when trying to use parameter 9, but used only double-braces, {{9}} instead of triple-braces.
