Template:COI-check/doc
| This is a documentation subpage for Template:COI-check. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Use this template to request that an article be checked for POV ("Point of View") when an editor may have a COI ("Conflict of Interest"). The editor who adds the tag must address the issues on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies.
For POV issues which are disputed, use the {{POV}} or {{COI}} template instead. For more information, see Wikipedia:NPOV dispute ("NPOV" is an abbreviation for "Neutral Point of View").
- This template is a self-reference.
- Please do not subst: this template.
Usage
Explain your reasons on the article's talk page, then place {{COI-check}} at the top of the suspect article. To specify the section of the talk page, use {{COI-check|talk page section name}}. Articles using this template as shown above are placed into Category:NPOV disputes.
This template can take an optional date parameter in the format {{POV-check|date = <month> <year>}} or {{COI-check|talk page section name|date = <month> <year>}}. If the date is not included it will probably be added later by a WP:BOT. Articles using this template with a date are added to Category:NPOV disputes from <month> <year>.
Example using current date
Template:
{{COI-check|date=January 2026}}
Output:
A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. (January 2026) |
